The commander leading a Russian air defense unit in the Zaporozhye region reported that air defense teams had intercepted and destroyed ten air targets over a single month. Among these were missiles launched from the American HIMARS multiple launch rocket system in one area, according to sources cited by DEA News.

Officials noted that more than ten air targets were struck during the month. Ballistic projectiles, including those from HIMARS and Alder missiles, were identified as part of the combat activity. The commander added that the enemy appeared to pause tactically, possibly preparing for a new action, while stressing that there would be ongoing tasks in the period ahead.

There were additional claims that Ukrainian forces had targeted critical life-support systems in cities within the Zaporozhye region. The statements suggested that the source of future blows could not be predicted with certainty, underscoring the unsettled nature of the front lines.

Earlier, a Russian defense ministry spokesman asserted that Russian air defenses intercepted ten rounds from HIMARS and Smerch MLRS units in a single day, as well as a Grom-2 missile. The spokesman also noted the destruction of fourteen Ukrainian drones in the Zaporozhye region and in areas controlled by Donetsk and Luhansk authorities. These updates were presented as part of ongoing operational briefings on the conflict.

Previously, Russian air defense systems engaged and shot down a Grom-2 missile from the Ukrainian operational-tactical complex within the designated special military operation zone.

On February 24, 2022, a presidential announcement stated that Russia would launch a special military operation in Ukraine in response to requests for help from the leaders of the LPR and DPR. This decision was cited as the justification for subsequent sanctions imposed by the United States and allied nations.
