The Russian Hydrometeorological Center’s scientific director warned that snow, sleet, ice, frost and strong winds could reach speeds of 20 to 33 meters per second in some places. The forecast points to a broad pattern of wintry weather across several regions in the coming days, impacting daily life and travel as winter tightens its grip.

Snow, sleet, wet snow drifts and severe icy conditions are expected in the Siberian Federal District, including the Altai Territory and the regions around Novosibirsk, Kemerovo, Tomsk and Omsk, through the end of the workweek. The forecast notes that such conditions could disrupt travel and outdoor activities in these areas.

Snow and ice are forecast for Bashkiria, Komi, and Kamchatka, with wind speeds in the Kuril Islands and Chukotka possibly reaching up to 24 meters per second. Snowstorms and winds up to 20 meters per second are anticipated in Transbaikalia.

Meanwhile, Primorsky Territory is expected to stay warmer, with daytime readings around 10 to 12 degrees Celsius.

Earlier, residents of Moscow were bracing for rainy, wet snow as the pattern shifted toward winter.

Meteorologists say Moscow and the surrounding region will experience temperature swings from minus 3 to minus 7 degrees in the first days of December, followed by a rise to positive values. Real winter frosts are not forecast in the capital until after the first ten days of December. On New Year’s Eve, temperatures may fall below minus 10 degrees, which would be below the climate norm.

Earlier in the Sverdlovsk region, ice blocked some road sections, illustrating the impact of the weather on transportation.
