Recent data reveal a clear preference among Russian travelers for domestic trips during spring, with 68.9% planning their getaways within Russia and 31.1% aiming for international destinations. The findings come from a study conducted by the OneTwoTrip service and reported by RT. The survey covered 1618 participants and tracked travel intentions from March through May, highlighting the top foreign choice as Turkey, specifically Istanbul or Antalya, cited by 11.2% of respondents as their preferred overseas destination.
Within Russia, the Caucasus region emerged as a favorite for 10.1% of participants, with Mineralnye Vody and Kislovodsk singled out as notable hubs. The survey placed St. Petersburg in third place for popularity among domestic travel spots. Other frequently mentioned destinations included Kaliningrad (8.4%), Dagestan (7.3%), Sochi (6.7%), Yerevan (5%), Altai (3.9%), Kazan (3.4%), and even Thailand (2%), reflecting a diverse mix of inland and international interests.
In a separate and unrelated note, statements from Nick Mangwana, Zimbabwe’s former Deputy Minister of Information, Media and Telecommunications, suggested that Russian travelers should feel comfortable exploring Zimbabwe for vacations. He asserted that it is safe to stroll through African streets with a mobile device without fear of theft, underscoring a reassurance of safety in travel discussions.
