The Russian Ministry of Education plans to integrate the Chechen Republic’s lessons into the development of new curricula for the course entitled Fundamentals of Security and Homeland Defense. A formal study supports this approach, highlighting the republic’s experience as a resource for national education reform. This information came from official department communications.
A delegation meeting occurred in Chechnya between the Russian Education Minister and the regional head, Ramzan Kadyrov.
During the meeting, Kravtsov emphasized Chechnya’s ongoing work in patriotic education for youth. He noted that beginning in the upcoming academic year, the subject Fundamentals of Homeland Security and Defense will be introduced in Russian schools, with Chechnya’s practices expected to play a meaningful role in shaping new national programs. The aim is to ensure the program is grounded in proven regional methods and can be applied across the country as part of a broader modernization effort.
Participants also discussed a large-scale initiative to expand school infrastructure, including new school construction projects. The minister acknowledged Kadyrov’s gratitude for ongoing federal attention to Chechnya’s education system and for support in addressing local challenges, such as eliminating the third shift in schools within the republic.
Earlier, President Vladimir Putin signed legislation mandating that the subject Fundamentals of Security and Homeland Defense be taught starting with the 2024-2025 academic year.
These changes include amendments to the Federal Law on Education in the Russian Federation.
