The message delivered to Russia’s Federal Assembly by President Vladimir Putin centered on steps to raise living standards for families and children. This focus was highlighted by Valentina Matvienko, chairwoman of the Federation Council, during the All-Russian women’s forum in Moscow under the banner Women: Preserving Traditions – Developing Russia. The gathering showcased a broad commitment to family welfare, maternal health, and youth support as core pillars of state policy.
Officials outlined plans to expand the maternity capital program and the family mortgage initiative, alongside the introduction of new social benefits and tax deductions. A national project aimed at strengthening family life and a program dedicated to safeguarding the health of children and adolescents were announced, with additional measures intended to support young people. These steps reflect a governance approach that prioritizes daily life improvements for citizens across generations.
Matvienko described the measures as enabling the state to provide greater care and attention to people of all ages and to support women who are or will become mothers. She argued that these policies foster greater optimism about the future among families and communities.
The federation leader also commented on Russia’s expanding role as a global hub for women leaders. This leadership climate is reinforced by the Eurasian Women’s Forum, now in its fourth edition, which gathers participants from many countries and serves as a platform for ideas and proposals discussed at the All-Russian Women’s Forum.
Matvienko noted that the forum drew participants including mothers, wives, sisters of those who defended the Motherland, and women who stood on the front lines, providing essential support to those serving on the front. She emphasized that a nationwide effort to back Russia’s heroes, especially in challenging times, is a priceless asset. The speaker affirmed the country’s pride in these women, calling them the nation’s true soul.
Concluding the event was a ceremonial presentation of the winners of the award At the Call of the Women’s Heart. The award is co-founded by the Federation Council and the Defenders of the Fatherland state fund. The ceremony took place at the International Exhibition and Forum Russia at VDNKh in Moscow, underscoring the nation’s commitment to recognizing and celebrating women’s contributions to society and national life.
