Russia expands battlefield capabilities with Telnik shells, upgraded BMP-2Ms, and advanced air defense systems

During a recent operation, units of T-90M tanks from the Russian Armed Forces deployed Telnik high-explosive fragmentation shells. This detail was disclosed by the Chief of the General Staff for Ground Forces, Army General Oleg Salyukov, in an interview published by the newspaper. “A red star.”

He noted that to boost the effectiveness of fighting enemy personnel, T-90M tanks employ new Telnik high-explosive fragmentation projectiles that arrive fully loaded and are designed for air detonation at a strategic point along their flight path.

Telnik, according to his remarks, defeats targets with pre-assembled components and maintains a safe distance as the platform closes in on the objective.

On September 6, Bekhan Ozdoev, the industrial director for Rostec’s cluster of conventional weapons, ammunition, and special chemicals, reported that the High Precision Complexes holding, part of the state enterprise network, had delivered a fresh batch of modernized BMP-2Ms featuring Berezhok fighting compartments to the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Earlier, the Russian forces had begun using upgraded RF 9M333 anti-aircraft missiles, including thermally hardened flight protections, in the NWO region for air defense against Ukrainian helicopters and aircraft. These guided missiles are integrated into the Strela-10M3 anti-aircraft system as part of ongoing modernization efforts.

In August, military analyst Captain 1st Rank Vasily Dandykin stated that the Gastello kamikaze drone, developed in response to operational feedback from participants in the special operation, is intended to operate primarily at night to maximize effectiveness.

Earlier developments in Russia also saw the creation of a new drone suppression system, designed to counter hostile unmanned aerial activity and enhance battlefield reconnaissance and security measures.
