Russia Criticizes German and French Involvement in Minsk Talks
In a recent briefing, the spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, criticized Germany and France for their roles in the Minsk process concerning the conflict in southeastern Ukraine. She argued that Paris and Berlin have had eight years to influence a peaceful settlement but instead demonstrated selective approaches that undermined a comprehensive resolution. Zakharova highlighted what she described as a pattern of double standards, pointing to inconsistent criticisms of Kyiv while accounting for Moscow’s perspective on the crisis. The diplomat asserted that Germany and France failed to achieve a constructive path within the Normandy format, calling their participation a mismatch with the Minsk agreements. She stated that Paris and Berlin repeatedly voiced concerns about alleged harmful consequences resulting from the Ukrainian authorities suppressing certain actions and Russophobic rhetoric.
