Rostec has completed major repairs and transferred the upgraded 2S19M1 and 2S19M2 Msta-S self-propelled howitzers to the Russian Ministry of Defense in 2023, alongside the 2S4 Tyulpan self-propelled mortars. The updates were reported by the state-owned company portal.

The Msta-S in the M1 configuration now includes an automatic guidance and fire control system, known as ASUNO. This system enables the combat vehicle to autonomously determine its coordinates and compute firing data from prepared positions without external input.

Rostec noted that the Msta-S in the M2 variant features a modernized ASUNO with enhanced accuracy and the ability to display an electronic map of the operation area. It was announced that the modernized Msta-S can operate in a simultaneous fire attack mode, allowing a gun to strike a target with five rounds in a single engagement before departing the firing position.

In late December, General Sergei Chemezov of Rostec reported that production of ammunition for small arms and multiple launch rocket systems has increased by a factor of fifty. The statement emphasized a significant boost in the supply of ballistic and artillery munitions to meet growing demand.

Earlier remarks indicated that the newest Coalition family howitzers would soon enter a designated military operations zone and deliver extended range advantages over Western artillery systems in Ukrainian possession, according to an interview with RIA Novosti.

There were also notes about Russian air assault and special forces personnel receiving training in the use of NATO weapons, reflecting ongoing adaptation and capability development in different branches of the armed forces.
