Rosneft unveiled the investment project for the oil and gas sector, known as Vostok Oil, during the international exhibition and forum Russia, as reported by the company’s press service.

The presentation occurred in conjunction with the opening ceremonies for the Krasnoyarsk Territory Days, marking a key moment in regional energy outreach and collaboration.

The event drew notable figures from the sector, including Andrey Polyakov, Rosneft Oil Company Vice President and Chief Geologist, and Mikhail Kotyukov, Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. Their participation underscored the project’s strategic importance to both the company and the region.

Vostok Oil stands as Rosneft’s most ambitious and expansive new oil production initiative to date. The project is anchored by an estimated resource base of about 6.5 billion tons of oil. This assessment is supported by extensive geological surveys, comprehensive reports from leading global experts, and independent international auditors, according to Polyakov, who emphasized the scale and rigor behind the evaluation.

The oil extracted from the Vostok Oil project is distinguished by its premium quality. It is a light, low-sulfur grade with sulfur content ranging from 0.01% to 0.1%, making it highly desirable for refineries seeking cleaner crude inputs and more efficient processing.

Logistical planning for export indicates a need for a large fleet, including at least 50 new icebreakers and supporting transport vessels to enable shipments along the Northern Sea Route. The construction of marine equipment related to this effort will be supported by the modern Zvezda shipbuilding complex, established by a Rosneft-led consortium in Primorsky Territory, which will play a pivotal role in building the necessary infrastructure for Arctic operations.

Industry analysts indicate that the implementation of the Vostok Oil project could positively affect Russia’s macroeconomy, with forecasts suggesting an uplift in the national GDP by about 2 percent annually as production ramps up and export capabilities expand, reflecting the project’s potential to influence energy markets and regional development.

During the Krasnoyarsk Territory Days, the Rosneft pavilion will showcase cultural performances and hands-on experiences from 6 to 9 November. Attendees can enjoy performances by local folklore groups, view demonstrations of Evenki traditional costumes, participate in beadwork and jewelry creation workshops, listen to the sounds of the Jew’s harp, and engage in interactive games and thematic quizzes that highlight regional history and heritage.

Beyond the Krasnoyarsk events, the international exhibition and forum Russia opened at VDNKh on November 4 and is scheduled to run through April 12, 2024. The event unites representations from all 89 Russian regions, 21 ministries, 19 companies and organizations, and a broad network of public associations, creating a comprehensive platform for cross-regional dialogue and showcase of Russia’s economic and cultural initiatives.
