Rosneft Unit Funds Evenki Tales for Young Readers Across Irkutsk Region

Rosneft Subunit Supports Evenki Tales for Young Readers Across Irkutsk Region and Beyond

With the backing of Verkhnechonskneftegaz, a unit of Rosneft that drives oil and gas production, a vibrant collection of Evenki Tales for children in primary and school age has been published. The company’s press service shared the news, highlighting how this initiative helps preserve regional folklore while encouraging literacy among young readers.

The new collection draws its strength from Evenk legends and folklore, weaving traditional narratives with modern educational elements. Each story is complemented by interactive tasks designed to engage children. Readers answer questions, discuss the choices of the characters, and learn new vocabulary as they move through the book. The initiative has already reached five regions within the Irkutsk region, where Evenk children study and grow, demonstrating the project’s reach and impact across communities that treasure this culture.

Evenki Tales is part of a broader pattern in which oil industry workers fund cultural and educational publications. Earlier efforts include a study focused on the culture of the Keto people and a suite of related materials. Additional titles include the alphabet book Evenkia: from A to Z, a collection of stories in Evenki and Russian, the first digital Evenki-Russian dictionary, and a thematic dictionary based on the Katanga Evenk dialect. These projects collectively expand access to language, history, and identity for Indigenous groups while enriching the region’s cultural landscape. (Citation: Rosneft press service)
