Certified non-stick pans sold in Russia have been shown to be safe according to a study conducted by Roskachestvo. Yet, it is prudent to steer clear of inexpensive products that come from markets lacking certification, missing labels, or without clear contact information from the manufacturer. This caution was emphasized by Roskachestvo expert Natalya Zavyalova when discussing the findings with socialbites.ca.
Roskachestvo’s evaluation examined frying pans with non-stick coatings for compliance with the standards set by GN 2.3.3.972-00, which outlines unified sanitary-epidemiological and hygienic requirements for consumer goods. The results indicated that most pans did not release substances such as aluminum, iron, acetaldehyde, xylene, methyl, propyl, isopropyl, butyl, and isobutyl alcohols into food at levels exceeding established norms. Nevertheless, the study identified a notable concern: one Chinese-made pan released a large amount of aluminum into the water when heated, far surpassing permissible hygiene thresholds, according to Zavyalova.
Overall, kitchen utensils used for cooking were found to be safe and compliant with the relevant standards. However, no consumer should assume that every frying pan will remain inert under all cooking conditions, especially when products are cheap, uncertified, or originate from questionable sources in the marketplace. Consumers should remain vigilant about product quality and labeling, recognizing that material integrity and coating stability can vary between brands and batches.
In Zavyalova’s assessment, the absence of documentation, proper markings, or direct links to manufacturers signals a higher risk. Her guidance is straightforward: avoid making purchases from suppliers who cannot provide verifiable information about the product’s origin, safety testing, and warranty terms.
