Roof Fire in Saratov Triggers Evacuations and Medical Aid; Several Incidents Highlight Fire Risk

Three people needed medical aid after a roof fire erupted atop a five story building in the center of Saratov. One person was taken to hospital, reportedly for inhalation of combustion byproducts, according to the regional press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Subsequently, three individuals sought medical care at the scene, with the ministry noting that one of them required hospitalization due to exposure to combustion products.

The blaze began on the roof of building 175 on Chelyuskintsev Street on a Friday night. Ten firefighting teams responded to the incident.

Rescue crews evacuated sixteen residents and managed to extinguish the roof fire. Initial information from the Saratov regional branch of the Emergency Situations Ministry indicated there were no fatalities.

A separate incident in Naberezhnye Chelny involved a child who, on March 21, set fire to three flats with a lighter.

Earlier, in Transbaikalia, a first grade pupil, along with a friend, started a fire that spread across an area of about 1,200 square meters.

Kazan also reported a residential fire in which a one month old infant was located at the scene.

Previously, scientists observed fires around the world consuming an area larger than the size of India each year, highlighting the global scale of fire risk and the need for vigilance and prevention measures.
