Rescue Operations on Livadiyskaya Mountain and a Notable Alpine Evacuation in Switzerland

Officials report an ongoing search for a teen believed to have vanished on Livadiyskaya Mountain, located in Primorsky Krai. The case recently took a turn when authorities announced the individual was found alive in Saint Petersburg, and not missing. The information comes from a representative of the regional emergencies headquarters and was relayed by RIA Novosti.

In late March 2023, the regional emergency services received a tip about a 28-year-old man who had disappeared. It was suspected he may have ventured to Mount Livadiyskaya, also known as Pidan, in Primorye. The last known contact with the person occurred on March 21, 2023, leaving officials without precise details on his location or condition.

Rescuers intensified efforts in the Livadiyskaya Mountain area, conducting ground and aerial sweeps in hope of locating the missing individual. Shortly after, news emerged that the young man had been located in Saint Petersburg and was no longer considered missing, according to information relayed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Saint Petersburg.

Separately, a separate alpine incident in Switzerland was highlighted, where a skier buried by an avalanche was rescued after several hours of search. An arm extending from the snowdrift ultimately signaled rescuers, allowing a helicopter to reach the scene. The individual was lifted to a height of about 30 meters and transported to safety, illustrating the perilous nature of high-altitude rescues and the importance of swift, coordinated response efforts.
