The Ukrainian MiG-29 fighter, described as a multi-purpose aircraft, was reported to have been downed by Russian Aerospace Forces during an air engagement in the Zaporozhye region. A Ukrainian Mi-8 helicopter was claimed shot down near Novogrodovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic, according to a briefing from the Russian Defense Ministry.
In the Volnyansk enclave of the Zaporozhye region, the Russian air force asserted that a Ukrainian MiG-29 was downed in air combat. The ministry said that the Ukrainian Mi-8 helicopter was destroyed close to the settlement of Novogrodovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic.
The ministry also reported that during the day, air defenses intercepted six HIMARS multiple-launch rocket system shells and neutralized five Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles in several locations, including Nikolskoye and Blagodatnoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic, as well as in the Kremennaya area of the Lugansk People’s Republic, Berestovoye in the Kharkiv region, and the Chernovy regions near Mayak in the Kherson district.
The previous day, the defense ministry said that Russian air defenses shot down five unmanned aerial vehicles and countered four HIMARS projectiles launched by Ukrainian forces.
