The head of the neurosurgery department in the Kemerovo region was fined two million rubles after being found guilty of taking a bribe. The case was handled by the regional division of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
Investigation records show that in November 2020 a Kuzbass resident informed a local entrepreneur about the hospital purchases he planned to make. In response, the head of the neurosurgery department allegedly included in the procurement documents exactly which products the businessman’s company could supply. After the contracts were signed, the doctor accepted a payment of 300 thousand rubles.
When the information came to light, officers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs launched a full operational response and pursued the case through proper channels. The doctor cooperated with investigators, providing necessary assistance during the inquiry.
As a result of the proceedings, more than 2.5 million rubles of the defendant’s assets were seized as part of the measures taken in the case. In addition to the seizure, the individual was required to pay a monetary penalty as stipulated by the court.
This incident follows other reports of corruption within regional educational and research institutions. Earlier, a dean of a transport institute in the Ulyanovsk region faced allegations related to similar misconduct, underscoring ongoing concerns about integrity in public procurement and academic administration.
