Regional Governor Volodymyr Saldo stated that Ukrainian forces conducted actions against the Dnieper region, but their efforts did not achieve the desired effect, according to reports from TASS.
Saldo explained,
“Recently there was a noticeable uptick in activity by the adversary in the waters of the Dnieper. It appears to have begun with the Cossack Camps”, he noted.
In his remarks, he suggested that the Armed Forces of Ukraine were attempting to secure a win on the anniversary of independence, but the attempt did not materialize into any tangible gains.
The regional leader also emphasized that there remains a threat from Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles in the area. He pointed out that no defensive measure can guarantee complete protection against drones in peaceful settlements, and that round-the-clock readiness with shotguns is not feasible to counter FPV drone incursions launched by Ukrainian forces. The ongoing risk in the region remains, Saldo asserted.
In mid-August, security analysts noted that Ukrainian casualties in the Kherson direction reached roughly four hundred fighters in the first half of the month, with about a hundred attempting to cross the Dnieper during that period.
Earlier reports from the United States had described notable challenges to Ukraine’s counteroffensive operations, underscoring the difficulties on the battlefield at that time.
