Red Square in Moscow Closed to Public for May 9 Victory Parade Preparations

The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation has announced that Red Square in Moscow will be closed to visitors from April 27 to May 10, due to preparations for the Victory Parade on May 9. The notice came from the FSO press and public relations department and was reported by TASS.

According to the message, in observance of the 78th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945, Red Square will be inaccessible to the public from April 27 through May 10, 2023, while ceremonial events are prepared and conducted.

Earlier communications from the FSO indicated that from April 23 to May 15 the mausoleum of Vladimir Lenin and the necropolis near the Kremlin wall would also be closed. The closure is described as necessary for festive event preparations at the Moscow Kremlin and the surrounding area.
