Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that he personally visited the headquarters in the Kherson region and in the Luhansk People’s Republic to engage with the military leadership. This account was transmitted by TASS.
He explained that the purpose of the trip was to meet with the military personnel, noting that he did not intend to take up the leaders’ time with prolonged distractions. During a government meeting, the president described the aim as getting direct input from those on the ground without unnecessary delays.
Putin emphasized that the present situation calls for military commanders to operate from temporary, secure locations. He remarked that staying close to the core deployment areas is essential, and that commanders must remain near the units under the army’s command, even if that means being away from the usual centers of decision making for short periods.
The head of state acknowledged that many questions remain about how things are progressing, saying there are numerous issues that require attention and careful assessment.
This trip marked the first time in proximity to the visit to Kherson and the LPR that the president traveled by helicopter. He reportedly flew to the Kherson district to receive a briefing from the military leaders at the Dnepr troops headquarters. Following that briefing, he proceeded to the LPR to assess the status of the Vostok troop group. The Kremlin’s account indicates that these trips and the meetings at the headquarters were not scheduled in advance, underscoring a spontaneous, on-site approach to obtaining situational awareness and firsthand information from field commanders.
