The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, highlighted a notable uptick in the demand for weapons as Russia continues its special military operation and expands its armed forces. The briefing came through RIA News.
Speaking at a meeting of the military-industrial commission, he called for an assessment of progress on the draft state armament program through 2034.
“Of course we must look forward, beyond the horizon,” the president stated, signaling a long-term strategic focus.
He described the state program as a foundational and decisive instrument for strengthening Russia’s security and defense capacity. According to the president, implementing the program will enable the military and security services to expand their technical and combat capabilities.
“Because of a range of factors, the demand for weapons, military and special equipment is rising sharply. We know what this means and what factors are at play,” Putin remarked. He pointed to the ongoing special military operation, unprecedented sanctions pressure on Russia, a growing size of the armed forces, and the appearance of new units and formations as part of these dynamics. In this context, he instructed officials to refine the data informing the draft state program.
