Addressing the ongoing forest fire crisis across the country, President Vladimir Putin spoke about a long-standing pattern where numerous problems get pushed forward, even after extensive debate and repeated postponements. He noted that decisions are often shelved for later, only to be revisited when new natural calamities surface, a point he underscored as a recurring challenge in the public administration process, according to DEA News.
He emphasized that for years, discussions have taken place without timely action, and the consequences keep piling up. The president highlighted that many crucial measures remain in limbo while the country faces the next round of natural disasters, stressing the need for more decisive and prompt policy choices rather than waiting for emergencies to dictate the agenda.
During the session, Alexander Kurenkov, who heads the Ministry of Emergency Situations, reported that the fire season has started in nearly every region of the Russian Federation. He detailed that in the Sverdlovsk, Kurgan, and Tyumen regions, more than six thousand structures have been lost to forest fires. According to Kurenkov, the Sverdlovsk region has become the most fire-prone area in the country, underscoring the widespread nature of the risk. He also announced a plan to provide financial assistance from the federal budget to residents in the Kurgan and Sverdlovsk regions who have suffered as a result of the fires, outlining the government’s readiness to support affected communities and help them recover in the aftermath of the disasters.
