Prostitution Trial in Murcia: Mother and Club Owners Face Charges

In the Provincial Court of Murcia, a case will be heard on February 21 involving a woman accused in 2015 of prostituting her two daughters, then aged 15 and 23, in brothels located in the Base 2000 Industrial Park in Lorquí. The woman, identified as N. E., worked as a waitress at the pub called “Your New Temptation” (TNT). Her daughters reportedly performed not only as waitresses but also engaged in sex work with clients, who were allegedly enticed with erotic and provocative insinuations to invite them to purchase drinks, as outlined by the prosecutor in the preliminary proceedings. The mother allegedly used the influence she wielded over the young women to arrange meetings outside the venue with various clients, with the aim that the daughters would carry out sexual practices in exchange for compensation, a payment that was prearranged with N. E. and collected before allowing the daughters to leave the premises. (Source: Fiscalía)

The case notes that both the younger daughter and her older sister complied with the situation imposed by their mother, as they lived with her and another younger sister and had no other viable means of sustenance, according to the document from the Court of First Instance and Instruction of Molina de Segura. The prosecutor seeks eight years in prison for N. E. on charges of prostitution and sexual exploitation of minors, as well as a fine, the suspension of passive suffrage for the duration of the sentence, and costs, plus five years of supervised liberty and the removal of parental authority over her minor daughter. The request also includes compensation of 6,000 euros to each of her daughters. (Source: Fiscalía)

Owners accused of illicit profit

In the defendant bench, R. K. and F. J. M. S. will also be tried as managers of the disco pubs TNT and Neverland, respectively. Police investigations conducted by the Murcia Police Directorate General’s UCRIF unit in 2015 revealed that these establishments facilitated the sexual services of foreign women to clients. It is alleged that the owners, aiming to profit illicitly, did not formalize contracts or enroll workers in social security, instead imposing working conditions that seriously violated workers’ rights. This included long shifts of more than ten hours without breaks, with employees receiving only a small percentage of the drinks consumed by customers as part of their salary. It is alleged that R. K. had full knowledge of a minor victim and of her activities within the venue. (Source: Fiscalía)

The fiscal notes that beyond the women who provided the sexual services, the musicians and other workers at the venues, all foreign nationals without formal contracts or social security coverage, were forced to endure similar conditions. They reportedly received as little as 50 euros for more than eleven hours of work, with shifts starting at 7:00 p.m. and ending at 6:00 a.m. (Source: Fiscalía)

The prosecutor requests eight years in prison for R. K. and three years and four months for F. J. M. S. together with other sanctions related to the scheme. (Source: Fiscalía)
