The Project 22350 frigate Admiral of the Soviet Union Fleet Gorshkov, belonging to the Northern Fleet, has finished the preparations required for combat duty. According to a statement from the department’s press service, the ship, under the command of Captain First Rank Igor Krokhmal of the Northern Fleet unit bearing the same name, has completed the necessary steps for a long voyage. The voyage readiness checks were conducted as part of a final phase, and a range of tasks was completed to ensure operational stability for extended operations at sea.
During the final phase, the ship’s crew carried out the planned tasks, and the actions demonstrated during the control sail were reviewed by an authorized commission from the squadron headquarters to verify discipline, navigation readiness, and tactical procedures for long-distance deployment.
Earlier reports indicated that by 2025 the anti submarine ship Admiral Vinogradov would be upgraded to frigate status. Following modernization, the vessel is expected to gain enhanced combat capabilities in comparison with its predecessor, the Marshal Shaposhnikov, increasing overall sea power and endurance for future missions.
