A 31-year-old woman was arrested on 2 February on charges of embezzlement in Benidorm. Investigators from the Judicial Police Brigade of the National Police arrested one employee of a local bookmaker who skimmed nearly 18,993 euros over a short period without the city’s authorization. The case began when irregularities surfaced in the daily cash counts, and the suspicious activity was eventually traced through security footage installed by the business owner. The footage showed discrepancies at the cash desk and pointed to the employee as the person responsible. The inquiry team compiled statements from the complainant and the business owner and launched a formal investigation through the La Vila Joiosa Guard Investigation Court to pursue the case further. Prisoner at a logistics company in Alicante
In a separate incident, investigators from the Central District Police Station Investigation Group in Alicante arrested a 34-year-old man on 10 February for theft. The suspect, identified as A.S., worked for a package delivery company based in Alicante and was alleged to have seized a total of 12 packages valued at 1,588.96 euros. The cargo firm reported that shipments from multiple delivery regions were being missing, triggering security checks. An internal operation using two placed decoy packs helped confirm the suspect was diverting parcels and keeping them for himself, separate from the rest of the staff.
Law enforcement then located the perpetrator and placed him in the Alicante Investigation Court for processing after formal statements at the police stations. He was released after questioning and formalities according to standard procedure. (Authorities)
