A 21-year-old man has been detained in Alicante by the National Police on suspicion of committing a break-in robbery at a city center bar and also charged with assaulting an authority officer. He was caught in flight with the loot still on him after the incident.
A call to the 091 emergency line, routed to the SALA-CIMACC, alerted officers on duty in the early hours of the morning to a disturbance at a hospitality establishment. The dispatch described a break-in at a bar nearby, triggering a rapid police response and the deployment of patrols to the area.
Investigators suspected the suspect was a repeat offender who had previously operated in the same district, committing similar offenses. Accordingly, officers initiated surveillance around the suspect’s home. The accused arrived at the location by taxi, and upon sensing the police presence, attempted to flee toward a nearby building. The pursuit ended when officers managed to reach him inside the building.
Faced with capture, the man struggled, striking the officers in an effort to break free. The clash resulted in all three participants tumbling down two floors. The individual was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an authority figure and causing injuries during the confrontation.
During the arrest, the suspect carried a substantial collection of coins on his person, and additional coins that had fallen during the escape increased the total value of the loot to 897 euros, according to the officers involved.
Subsequent follow-up into the robbery was led by the Group Operative of the Judicial Police at the Alicante Central police station. Monitoring footage from security cameras in the area provided strong evidentiary support that tied the man directly to the bar robbery. The detainee was subsequently brought before the La Guardia court in Alicante for processing.
The case remains under ongoing investigation, with authorities outlining that the evidence gathered is being compiled to determine the full scope of the suspect’s activity in relation to similar incidents in the vicinity. According to the reporting officers, the inquiry continues to build a clearer timeline of events surrounding the break-in and the subsequent confrontation with law enforcement.
