Plano General: A New RTVE Talk Show with Pablo Iglesias

The second premiere of a new weekly talk show titled General Aircraft will air Friday, April 8, on general television airwaves. Hosted and moderated by journalist Jenaro Castro, the program debuts with an exclusive interview featuring Pablo Iglesias. The format aims to offer a balanced blend of conversation, context, and reflection, inviting viewers into a thoughtful dialogue with each guest.

RTVE reports indicate the hour-long premiere will weave together the interview with in-depth reporting across several segments. The show unfolds through a sequence of dedicated blocks: La Semblanza, which highlights the guest’s biographical journey; The Press Room, a space to discuss current events and evolving issues; A Corner of the Soul, where the humane side of the interviewee is explored; Close-up, a segment testing reflexes and creativity; and The Wall, where the guest leaves a personal, handwritten sentence that serves as a window into their worldview.

General Plan, the RTVE Information Services program, is a fully in-house production. The program comes to life under the direction of Luis Martínez Daza, with Patricio de la Nuez overseeing production and Jorge Igual along with Paz Cámara guiding the writing process. The collaboration reflects RTVE’s commitment to original storytelling and thoughtful journalism.

The show launches with a cultural, social, and intellectual focus and will be broadcast on Fridays on La 2. Additional airings are planned on La 1, Canal 24 Horas, and TVE Internacional on Sundays at 06:30. Viewers can later catch episodes on the RTVE Play platform for on-demand viewing. This scheduling ensures accessibility across platforms and time zones, inviting a broad audience to join the conversation.

The target of the program is broad: it aims to interview figures from all walks of life, spanning culture, society, economics, international affairs, national topics, and sports. The goal is to create a conversation that resonates beyond the studio and into viewers’ everyday lives, offering perspectives from diverse fields.

Jenaro Castro, the show’s director and host, describes Plano General as a simple, candid interview program crafted with care and a clear purpose. The aim is to illuminate the human side of each guest, allowing the audience to glimpse the characters behind public personas, and to reveal aspects of personality that often remain hidden in other settings. The intention is to foster genuine connections and meaningful dialogue that speaks to viewers on a personal level.
