Petropavlovsk School Incident: Injured Children Under Intensive Care

Two children who were injured in the attack on a school in Petropavlovsk, Kazakhstan, were taken to intensive care, while another child received medical care and was discharged home. Agency reports from casinform indicate that physicians were involved in the care process.

A youth who had previously brandished an ax and a knife attacked students at school number 4 in Petropavlovsk. The three victims were transported to a local hospital for assessment and treatment. The attacker was subsequently arrested. Preliminary information suggests that the ninth grader is registered on a psychiatric registry.

Hospital officials from the Children’s Hospital in the Northern Kazakhstan region described the immediate medical response: the patients were rushed to the operating room, wounds were surgically treated under anesthesia, essential diagnostic tests were conducted, and consultations with several specialists were held to guide care and monitoring.

Doctors noted that the condition of the injured individuals is stable and that they remain under intensive care supervision at this time.
