A Palma resident who had reported abuse involving her six-year-old son at the school a week earlier was detained by police after an incident with the teacher. The mother maintains that she did not initiate the dispute and that the teacher attacked her for raising concerns, leading to a clash in public that evening.

As described by the mother, a week before the incident she filed a formal complaint at the Palma school attended by her son. The boy had told his teacher about being hit, and the mother says those words were echoed to her by the child and later confirmed to a grandmother and a speech therapist: the child insisted that the teacher had caused him pain and injury.

The boy’s family filed a criminal complaint with the school administration, and additional voice notes from other students supported the boy’s account. School officials expressed concern and requested a future meeting to examine the issue and determine steps for resolution. The family also reported the events to the police as part of the ongoing inquiry.

According to relatives, the boy did not attend classes for the past week following guidance issued by the school’s central administration. On the previous Friday, an altercation occurred between the mother and the teacher, with each side offering a different account of what happened.

Police statements describe an encounter in which the mother allegedly followed the teacher after seeing him leave the school, and at some point grabbed her by the hair, pushed her to the ground, and assaulted her. The teacher, who had taken shelter in a nearby hair salon with a classmate, was reportedly observed by a witness who intervened to separate the two parties at the scene.

The mother provided a different version of events. She said she was heading to a pharmacy when she ran into the teacher on the street. According to her, the teacher looked her up and down, called her disgusting, and after warning him that any mistreatment of the child would be met with a stronger response, she says he attacked her, grabbing her arm and striking her. She claims that there were no witnesses to the incident, and that the two simply crossed paths and went their separate ways afterward.

Following the episode, a National Police patrol detained the mother at home and cited her with an offense of assault against law enforcement. The incident was addressed at a police station, where she was photographed for a medical report documenting scratches and bruises on her face and arm. After a few hours, she was released.

The mother has maintained that she has always enjoyed good relations with her son’s teachers and with other parents. She added that if she had intended to strike the teacher, she would have done so on the first day, not after reporting the matter to the school and the police, stressing that her actions were a response to the teacher’s alleged behavior.

Police sources indicate that the investigation remains open to clarify the complaint filed last week against the teacher for allegedly assaulting the boy, which is presently being explored in conjunction with the custody case and ongoing inquiries related to the events of that period, with no final conclusions yet reached as authorities gather testimonies and gather further evidence.
