National Police officers arrested a 59-year-old man in Palma last Saturday, alleging involvement in gender-based violence, home invasion, and threats. The suspect is accused of attacking his partner, then turning threats toward his son with a knife, before pursuing him to a neighbor’s residence where the neighbor intervened with the weapon drawn in self-defense.

Authorities report that the events unfolded at a family home in the Son Ferriol district of Palma on a Saturday afternoon around 4:30 PM. The man reportedly argued with his partner and then assaulted her. He allegedly retrieved several kitchen knives and laid them out on a table as the confrontation escalated.

Terrified, the woman called for help from her son, who confronted the assailant. The man then moved toward the son with a knife, causing him to flee toward safety. The woman and her mother sought refuge at a neighbor’s house, hoping to escape the danger.

The assailant attempted to force entry into the neighbor’s home and, at one point, allegedly jumped between balconies to gain access. The son managed to escape and was later reunited with his mother and grandmother, while a neighbor and a nearby coworker intervened to secure the area and remove the immediate threat.

911 dispatchers received multiple calls reporting a disturbance involving a person with a knife threatening several individuals in the vicinity of the neighborhood. Police units quickly responded to the scene, locating and intercepting the suspect after a short pursuit, during which investigators recovered three knives, including two folding blades, from the location.

Law enforcement officers conducted interviews with the victims and a number of witnesses, corroborating that the man had assaulted his partner and threatened both her son and a neighbor with a knife during the incident.

He was promptly taken into custody and charged with offenses including gender-based violence, threats, and breaking and entering by forcibly entering a neighbor’s residence, according to police statements and subsequent charges filed by the authorities. The case has been documented by the National Police as part of ongoing efforts to address domestic violence and related crimes within the community, and the investigation continues to determine the full scope of events and any additional victims or witnesses who may provide further details.
