Pajares Bypass: phased AVE rollout between Oviedo and Madrid

Renfe announced a new high‑speed connection between Oviedo and Madrid, estimating an initial journey time of 3 hours and 12 minutes. Promotional tickets will start at 18 euros, and sale begins November 2, with service slated to begin on November 30. The plan emphasizes phased deployment of the Pajares Bypass, allowing time-based improvements as new trains enter service, with travel times tightening by at least an hour once the bypass is fully in operation. The earliest Madrid–Oviedo non-stop route is projected at 3 hours 12 minutes, while the Madrid–Pola de Lena segment is targeted at 2 hours and 49 minutes. (Cited from Renfe announcements)
