The events unfolded in the early evening, around six thirty, as a 14-year-old resident of Oviedo and a friend were near the station at the end of Uría. The boy briefly entered a bathroom, and quickly realized someone on the other side of the door was attempting to spy. Turning toward a shadowy figure peering through a gap, he saw an eye watching him. A phone appeared under his own, and a photo was captured. The boy also witnessed the person sliding a hand forward, clearly attempting to grab him.
The teenager waited a prudent moment to ensure the bathroom was unoccupied before stepping out. When the door finally opened, he found a man over fifty, wearing a white T-shirt and shorts, approaching. The man began touching the boy’s genitals, and the young person grabbed his shoulder and said they should go inside together.
The minor resisted and insisted he would not accompany the stranger anywhere as the man repeated the intention. Eventually the attacker asked the boy to write down his phone number so they could meet later if he wished. The boy complied, intending to report the incident. The regional police were alerted, and officers from the Oviedo Local Police responded to Renfe. The minor explained that a man had tried to persuade him to have oral sex in the bathrooms, that the man had his number, and that police had called to arrange a possible meeting. At seven fifteen in the evening, the same man returned to the police station and the minor identified him as the person who had just propositioned him. Authorities subsequently arrested him on suspicion of attempted sexual assault.
During later questioning, the minor was taken to a health center for a precautionary medical check. The detainee acknowledged the events and expressed his understanding of why he had been detained. The case carried potential additions to the charges, as among the items seized was a mobile phone that could contain pornographic material, including images involving minors. Officers asked whether any of the two phones held explicit files involving minors, but the detainee could not confirm or deny with certainty. He stated that he could not be sure.
The man, born in Zamora and residing in Gijón, explained that one phone was personal and the other was a contacts phone. Authorities also found several sexual items and toys in the possession of the detainee, including nine condoms, nine lubricants, a vibrating ring, and rubber bands used for genital stimulation. Two bottles were found that the detainee stated contained betadine and mouthwash, respectively, raising further questions about the intent and potential use of those items. These findings supported the seriousness of the situation and the ongoing investigation by law enforcement, with investigators continuing to examine the full scope of potential offenses and any related actions connected to the case.
