The press service of the Moscow region administration reported that Governor Andrei Vorobyov personally reviewed the development of an overpass near Bykovo station in the Ramensky district. This project aims to relieve a critical bottleneck where no alternative crossing exists, linking Novoryazanskoye and Yegoryevskoye highways and uniting the northern and southern zones of the Lyubertsy-Ramen agglomeration, a region home to more than half a million residents. The current single-level crossing has long been a chokepoint as train traffic intensified after the commissioning of the MCD-3, pushing congestion to lengthy tailbacks that stretch for kilometers during peak hours. The construction of the overpass began last year as part of the national project, with work now advancing ahead of the original schedule. Officials anticipate that traffic will begin to flow over the new route on September 1, 2024, rather than the initially planned January 2025. This timing would mark a significant improvement in daily travel for thousands of commuters and for the regional economy. (Source attribution: Moscow Region Administration)

Vorobyov emphasized that congestion caused by rising train traffic is a sensitive problem in many cities, describing one especially severe intersection jam where a typical red light fails to capture the moment and queues extend two to three kilometers during rush hours. He noted that, in response, appeals were made to the federal government requesting support to build modern, comfortable overpasses not only at Bykovo but also at Anikeevka, Opalikha, and Aprelevka, where the MCD corridor experiences heavy traffic. The Bykovo overpass stretches 382 meters in length and, including ramps, spans about 1.2 kilometers. It is designed with two lanes and a projected speed of 70 km/h, aligning the project with regional mobility goals and safety standards. (Source attribution: Moscow Region Administration)

Over half of the construction is already completed. The installation of all ten supports has been finished, and the span between the fifth and sixth supports over the railway has been shifted into place. Installation of the metal structures for the spans is slated to begin soon, signaling the nearing completion of a critical infrastructure upgrade. (Source attribution: Moscow Region Administration)
