The Valencian Government, in collaboration with social groups and civil society organizations, has launched a WhatsApp communication channel that uses five dedicated numbers. This channel is open to residents and the broader community to request aid, and it also serves as a conduit for organizations, companies, and institutions willing to offer support. The aim is to analyze, route, and distribute resources in an efficient manner, prioritizing needs and coordinating responses to arrive at the right time and place.
The initiative, announced yesterday after the meeting of the Integrated Operational Coordination Center, is implemented through regional phone numbers by comarca:
- Requena-Utiel: 659289726 — a dedicated line for residents to request aid, report urgent needs, and coordinate assistance.
- Horta Sur: 682177249 — a dedicated line for residents to request aid, report urgent needs, and coordinate assistance.
- La Ribera: 619975059 — a dedicated line for residents to request aid, report urgent needs, and coordinate assistance.
- Hoya de Buñol: 690027099 — a dedicated line for residents to request aid, report urgent needs, and coordinate assistance.
- Castellón: 679161664 — a dedicated line for residents to request aid, report urgent needs, and coordinate assistance.
The Vice President of the Valencian Government, Susana Camarero, met with NGO leaders, volunteers, municipalities, and the Provincial Council to address needs, set priorities, and establish an action protocol to coordinate actions and ensure aid reaches all individuals affected by the damage that has struck the Valencian Community, as reported by the government.
Organizing the Aid
Social organizations have stressed the need to mobilize everyone who wants to help, to channel support in the best possible way so that solidarity reaches those with the greatest urgency, while aligning with emergency operations and sustaining efforts over time to address each need as it arises.
Therefore, establishing a direct line of communication among the involved representatives is advisable to speed up processes, centralize and monitor aid and needs, with the aim of being agile and efficient, avoiding duplications, and preventing the overload of entrances or blocked zones where emergency services remain the priority.
Likewise, aid, both the management of needs and the dispatch of provisions, will be channeled through the town councils, the level of government closest to residents, and these will be coordinated by the Provincial Council and the Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces.
