More than 300,000 euros worth of jewelry disappeared from private homes and later surfaced in local shops, as the Civil Guard in Valencia announced the conclusion of Operation Neteja. The case centers on a pattern of break-ins and thefts attributed to a woman who had access to multiple households through her job as a housekeeper. The investigation began after two separate complaints from residents across the l’Horta region, flagging a troubling breach of trust where a caregiver exploited her access to steal precious items.

The operation unfolded last May when the Civil Guard received a report from an elderly resident of Massanassa. The complainant claimed several gold coins and various pieces of jewelry were missing from his home. He pointed to a woman who had previously worked as a housekeeper for him as a key suspect, noting that she had access to his residence and belongings on a routine basis. The person in question had been employed at the home for a period, which allowed her to become familiar with the layout, valuables, and security routines of the household.

In mid-June, the elderly man’s daughter, who also lives in Massanassa, reported a similar loss at her own home. She confirmed that jewelry had disappeared and realized that the same housekeeper who had access to her mother’s residence was involved. Investigators tied the two cases together, finding that the suspect had ceased working at both addresses roughly six months earlier, a detail that helped establish a timeline and raised suspicions about a broader pattern of theft rather than isolated incidents.

The investigative work paid off when agents recovered a trove of thirty jewelry items that the suspect had sold in establishments specializing in this type of merchandise. In total, these pieces were valued at more than 300,000 euros, and the victims were able to identify their own jewelry among the recovered items. The find solidified the link between the suspect and the stolen goods, confirming that the same individual had exploited her position to access multiple homes and misappropriate valuable pieces over an extended period.

As the inquiry progressed, authorities secured additional evidence that supported charges of ongoing theft. In a coordinated effort, the Civil Guard located and detained a 53-year-old Spanish woman residing in Beniparrell, Valencia, on two counts of perpetual theft. The arrest took place in Alfafar, and the case has been forwarded to the Catarroja Court of First Instance for further examination. The court proceeding continues as investigators compile a comprehensive file detailing the methods used, the items stolen, and the sequence of crimes that spanned several months across the region, underscoring the importance of thorough cross-checks between households connected by a single service provider.
