A coordinated operation carried out by the Civil Guard, known as Operation Dumis, led to the liberation of a 28-year-old woman who had been forced into sexual exploitation for years. Authorities state that from the outset, she was compelled to maintain sexual relations with strangers in exchange for narcotics and threats in order to secure the cycle of trafficking. The suspected ringleader was handed over to judicial authorities at La Vila Instruction Court No. 3, which subsequently ordered his remand in custody.
Late in September, a Civil Guard statement, coordinated with the Castellón de la Plana National Police, confirmed the emergence of a possible human trafficking case centered on a residence in the local area. The Women’s-Junior Team (EMUME) of the Organic Unit of the Judicial Police, together with the La Vila Judicial Police Team, initiated Operation Dumis to locate the victim and identify and arrest the person responsible for the crimes.
On September 29, investigators succeeded in locating and rescuing the victim inside the home where she lived with the alleged perpetrator in La Vila. A 54-year-old man was also detained, according to Civil Guard sources at the time.
During the search, authorities recovered material evidence that indicated a pattern of human trafficking for sexual exploitation. They learned that the victim had been subjected to physical assault and forced drug use whenever she resisted having sex with unfamiliar individuals. The investigation established that she had accompanied the accused to Spain in 2017, a detail confirmed by Civil Guard sources.
By October 1, the alleged offender faced formal charges of human trafficking, sexual assault, and injuries, with La Vila Instruction Court No. 3 ordering his imprisonment. The operation benefited from support provided by NGO Fiet Gratia, which had ongoing involvement with the victim during the execution of the arrest and the overall legal proceedings.
