Officer in Veliky Ustyug Faces Narcotics Lawsuits and Disciplinary Measures

A Veliky Ustyug police officer stood accused of producing narcotics at his residence, according to the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee for the Vologda Region in Russia. The allegations describe illegal manufacturing activities tied to illegal drug production within the officer’s own home and a breach of public trust that accompanies such conduct.

The case has progressed to a formal civil action, with a lawsuit filed against the 30-year-old law enforcement officer for the illicit creation and storage of large quantities of drugs not intended for sale, as well as for the unlawful cultivation of plants containing restricted substances on a substantial scale. The individual held an active position within law enforcement while simultaneously cultivating plants to extract a banned substance, raising serious concerns about integrity and compliance with the duty to uphold the law.

According to officials from the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, based at the suspect’s place of residence, investigators located 23 marijuana bushes containing narcotic materials. The seizure underscores the scale of the operation and the potential risk posed to the public trust in local policing bodies.

The ministry’s press service announced that the officer was dismissed from internal affairs duties on negative grounds. In addition to administrative consequences, the case will be addressed through the appropriate legal channels, with disciplinary actions imposed on the officer and potential accountability for leadership where applicable. This development signals a strict approach to misconduct within the ranks and reiterates the commitment to maintaining professional standards across the force.

Officials from the drug control department in Perm have also noted involvement in related aspects of the case, highlighting collaboration across regional divisions to address violations of drug laws and the abuse of authority. The ongoing investigation aims to clarify the sequence of events, determine responsibility, and ensure that conformity with legal norms is upheld across all units involved.
