Before reaching its fifth birthday, Nomo is already ready to step onto the major league stage. Born within Banc Sabadell’s innovation arm, InnoCells, this Catalan fintech has agreed to a sale that will take effect this fall. The company, which builds a technology-driven business management platform for micro SMEs and freelancers, will join Talenom, a Finnish group known for its management services. The move places Nomo under a larger umbrella and expands its reach across Europe as Talenom’s footprint grows. The seller employs around 1,000 people and aims for a turnover near 100 million euros this year.

Speaking from Barcelona, Nomo’s CEO, Xavier Kapellades, said the acquisition accelerates the company’s growth trajectory. Nomo has consistently doubled its revenue year over year and now seeks to consolidate its presence in Spain while expanding into Italy, France, and Germany. “It was time to bring in an external partner who shares our ambition and can sustain rapid growth,” Kapellades noted shortly after the deal closed.

For Talenom, the Spain-based purchase marks a strategic entry into the Iberian market. The Finnish group had already begun serving Spain through its first local agency and now intends to broaden its Spanish operations. The plan is simple: let Nomo serve as an accounting tool for Talenom’s agencies, while combining the digital platform with a broader suite of services. Over time, some operations will continue under the Talenom brand, including face-to-face management services when needed.

The strength of Nomo lies in its digital-first approach. It started as a platform designed for entrepreneurs and freelancers who may not have deep accounting or financial knowledge, allowing them to manage their businesses with ease. Recently, the platform added banking capabilities, expanding its value proposition beyond basic accounting tools.

Kapellades explained, “We now offer three integrated services in one solution: accounting, agency management, and our own banking features. We even launched a company account and a branded card about twelve weeks ago. The goal is for entrepreneurs to manage expenses more efficiently and streamline monthly billing.” He added that Nomo is uniquely positioned to deliver these three elements within a single platform.

Today, Nomo employs about twenty people and projects year-end headcount above thirty-five. The customer base has grown to roughly 3,000 paying clients, all benefiting from a unified digital experience. The larger market opportunity is significant: Spain alone has around 6 million SMEs and freelancers who could benefit from such an integrated tool. In that context, Nomo and Talenom see a path to scale, deepen capabilities, and strengthen resilience in a challenging macroeconomic environment ahead.

Kapellades emphasized that the collaboration with Talenom is about more than immediate scale. It is a long-term strategy to enhance capabilities, broaden the geographic footprint, and deliver a robust service ecosystem that can adapt to evolving business needs across Europe. The fusion of Nomo’s digital platform with Talenom’s management services positions both companies to support growing enterprises with streamlined processes, clearer insights, and faster execution in their financial workflows.
