A judge has sentenced Caroline R. to nine months in prison and ordered approximately 8,000 euros in compensation related to an incident in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, a municipality near Barcelona. The case involved multiple stab wounds inflicted at a residence on Europa Square, where S. sleeps alongside the rapper who was living there at the time.
According to the narrative outlined in the sentence reported by El País and accessed by this publication, the events unfolded on June 27, 2021. Caroline arrived at Morad’s apartment on Europa Square around 7 a.m. after spending the night at a disco. Upon entering the home, she found her partner asleep in bed with S.
She then went to the kitchen, retrieved a knife with a 13.5 centimeter blade, and returned to the bedroom. Several stab wounds were dealt to S. The sentence indicates that after realizing the severity of the injuries and the bleeding, Carolina tried to help by applying a towel and calling emergency services to request an ambulance. Carolina later described the moment as a blur triggered by the events inside the apartment.
different versions
Witnesses testified that S was with Carolina’s partner that night and that Carolina woke up to the stabbing, unable to detain her, with it appearing that Carolina was the aggressor. The account also notes that it was Carolina who called the emergency number, while witnesses claimed she did not hinder the situation.
In S’s account, he said he slept with the rapper and that Morad intervened and stopped the stabbing once Carolina woke up. He also claimed Morad took the knife away from Carolina after the stabbing began.
The victim presented another version of the emergency response. He stated that it was believed Carolina’s mother might have called the police after Carolina called her, and he claimed that the aid provided by Carolina did not help, alleging that the towel placed on him caused additional discomfort.
Beyond the nine-month sentence, the judge imposed a communication ban and an order not to approach S at a distance of at least 1,000 meters from S’s home, workplace, or any location the person typically visits, for a period of four years. The court also awarded 5,400 euros for physical injuries and 2,500 euros for psychological injuries, subject to statutory interest on the sums if the judge so deems appropriate. The court further reduced payments already delivered to the injured party by Carolina herself to 4,300 euros, with an additional 950 euros reportedly invested through judicial action.
problems with the police
Both Carolina and Morad asserted they left the scene when the police arrived. Carolina claimed she called an ambulance and departed after hearing police sirens. Morad, who was at the hospital, said he left because of ongoing police issues.
In fact, police troubles have shadowed Morad for years. Recently he was arrested by the L’Hospitalet City Guard but was released a few hours later, a development that has drawn additional attention to the case and its surrounding circumstances.
