Nighttime LTE Outage in Pskov Region and Related Internet Price News
A temporary change to mobile internet service will take effect in the Pskov region due to ongoing technical work. The project involves restructuring the radio frequency spectrum of transmission equipment, and during this period, LTE-based mobile internet will be turned off at night from January 25 through January 30. Officials announced that the access will be unavailable between 23:00 and 6:00 each night, with 3G services remaining active in the region.
The information was published by regional authorities via a public channel, noting that during the specified window only 3G connections would continue to operate in the area. This scheduling ensures essential services stay reachable while upgrades are implemented.
In another development, it was observed on January 25 that foreign hosting providers did not submit any applications for inclusion in the Roskomnadzor register, a matter highlighted by government channels. The absence of submissions means these providers will not appear in the regulator’s current registry as of that date.
Turning to consumer broadband prices, there were reports that home internet costs in Russia rose by 5-15 percent by the end of 2023. For major players such as ER-Telecom Holding and Rostelecom, price adjustments have already occurred or are expected to begin in 2024. Over a broader horizon, analysts note that overall cable internet pricing has shown a trend of modest annual increases, averaging around 5 percent per year across five years, driven by network upgrades and service enhancements.
There were also everyday consumer notes mentioning common online activities, including the practical steps Russians take to refresh or restart their devices. One observed behavior involved clearing money-related prompts or cached data when rebooting devices like iPhones, a reminder of the quirks of consumer tech in daily routines.
