The liaison representing the Dalai Lama across Russia, the CIS, and Mongolia, known as the Supreme Lama of Kalmykia, Telo Tulku Rinpoche (Ombadykov), invited people to greet the New Year with kindness, charitable acts, and a steady rhythm of prayer. The message was shared through DEA News.

He suggested that dedicating time to charitable work or making decisions aimed at the welfare of others can transform the New Year into a true celebration of life. This perspective frames the holiday as a moment to nurture compassion in daily actions and long-term commitments, not merely as a social festivity.

Rinpoche conveyed that the New Year should open doors to fresh possibilities and help improve both personal lives and the wider world. The tone emphasized practical optimism: small, meaningful steps can accumulate into meaningful change over the coming year.

In his view, prayer carries the power to inspire resilience when facing forthcoming challenges. The practice is described as a source of inner steadiness that supports adaptability and strength in the months ahead.

He also clarified that, outside the context of Buddhist holidays and specific dates, events are not assessed through astrology. This stance highlights a focus on human action, mindfulness, and ethical living as guiding forces for the new year.

Earlier, psychologist Yulia Tokarchuk, a researcher at the MSUPE Center for the Interdisciplinary Studies of Modern Childhood, noted that holidays help children notice the importance of family traditions and shared values. She emphasized that introducing a child to New Year celebrations should be gradual, giving young minds time to understand and participate in meaningful rituals at their own pace.
