Nevyansk, a town in the Sverdlovsk region, faced a serious disruption when water inlet pumps failed, cutting off cold water and heating for a large portion of residents. Reports from the district prosecutor’s office indicate that roughly 14 thousand locals were left without sufficient cold water and heating materials as a result of the malfunction.

According to an official publication, authorities conducted an inspection to assess the situation and determine the causes behind the pump failure. The prosecutor’s office noted that when supervisory measures reveal justification for action, appropriate prosecutorial intervention will follow.

Separately, figures released earlier described a broader regional energy impact. In the Rostov region, power outages affected more than 570 thousand consumers due to adverse weather conditions. Specifically, 253 thousand people in the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics experienced electricity loss, along with 233 thousand residents in the Donetsk People’s Republic and 89 thousand in Rostov Oblast.

In other developments, meteorologist Shuvalov recently forecast an uptick in the frequency of natural disasters across Russia, signaling a potential rise in extreme weather events and related disruptions in infrastructure and services.
