Music festival Russian Summer in Pskov expands across Russia
The festival Russian Summer. For Russia travels through Russia each year, and this August 12 performance in Pskov marks another milestone in its ongoing journey. Over the next four weeks the tour will visit twenty six cities across Russia’s diverse federal regions, bringing together culture, sport, and a shared sense of national pride.
In Pskov, the festival returns for a second year, with Finland Park serving once again as the central stage. The lineup blends adult and family friendly programming, featuring celebrated athletes, renowned poets, and performers from the music scene, including Pilot, Animatsiya, and Sobor. The concert sequence closes with a patriotic anthem celebrating summer and the defenders of the nation.
Olga Fedorova, a leading figure in the Pskov City Duma, underscored that the festival is more than a summer event. It is a chance to strengthen ties among citizens, to express patriotic spirit, and to honor national identity through shared experiences and music.
Patriotism, as described by festival organizers, extends beyond mere affection for the homeland. It encompasses readiness to contribute to the country’s welfare, echoing the sacrifices of those serving on the front lines. The festival program mirrors these ideas, weaving songs, spoken word, and sporting activities into a cohesive celebration of national values. The organizers emphasize that Russia is a vast and unique country, with a distinctive sense of patriotism that resonates across generations.
Participants are encouraged to engage actively with the festival offerings. Adults and children alike joined in the venue’s garden games hosted by the Art Workshop. Local residents shared memories from childhood, tried their hand at TRP standards, and explored space through solar telescopes. An eco-site connected with the ecological library provided a hands-on experience for those curious about the environment and sustainable living.
Viktor Ostrenko, who chairs the regional executive committee of the People’s Front in the Pskov region, noted that the festival’s varied program appeals to people of all ages and invites everyone to feel like a participant rather than a spectator. The inclusive design encourages attendees to explore, contribute, and enjoy each moment of the event.
“The common purpose among participants and volunteers on the front lines today is to achieve victory. Victory is built not only on military strength and bravery, but also on the power of art, the depth of the human spirit, and the creative energy shared by every Russian,” he stated. The central message of the festival centers on shared experiences and the thread that binds people together: Russia itself.
The project Russian Summer. ZaRussia is carried forward with support from the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives, the People’s Front, and the Russian Public Chamber, enabling communities across the country to connect through culture and shared national memory.
