A Civil Guard operation took place in Alicante this afternoon following an accusation that a 30-year-old man had fatally stabbed his former partner, and the victim was identified as a 42-year-old man. The stabbing occurred at the home of the victim in the San Francisco district, popularly known as El Poblao, in Villena.
The alleged murderer was captured after a lengthy pursuit that began when he breached a fence and entered the western port area. After driving through the port facilities, he exited the area and fled on foot toward the fishing dock, where he reached the logistics center operated by the multinational Dachser. In a subsequent collision, the suspect abandoned the vehicle and continued escaping on foot. A short time later, security forces detained him.
Police units, members of the Civil Guard and traffic agents, along with an ambulance crew, arrived at the scene. Judicial police authorities were informed, and officials noted that the suspect was wanted for a jealousy-related crime possibly connected to Villena.
Photographic captions from the scene describe the Civil Traffic Officer near the broken fence at the port entrance where the detainee was located. The incident was documented as it unfolded in the vicinity of the port.
The murder occurred just before two in the afternoon in the district known as El Poblao in Villena. Neighbors stated that the suspect had appeared at the home of his current wife’s former partner and violently knocked on the door to gain entry. The 42-year-old victim, employed as a mechanic, opened the door and was stabbed multiple times before the assailant fled the scene.
Staff and neighbors gathered near the residence as the victim received medical attention. Emergency services arrived, but paramedics confirmed the fatal injuries. Local police and Civil Guard officers secured the area while a judicial commission prepared to remove the body from the home.
A red Seat Arosa was later identified as the vehicle used by the suspect during the escape, and authorities tracked the car as part of the ongoing investigation.
Footage and reports describe the suspect’s attempt to flee by heading toward Alicante via the highway. He reached the port area where a barrier blocked entry, and he collided with the barrier to gain access to the inner port. Port security, initially short-staffed due to ongoing works and disrupted operations, faced delays in responding. The western sector of the port was affected by construction activity, complicating the response. The suspect reportedly did not know the area well, turned around, and left the port boundary after an alarming confrontation with port police at a checkpoint. He then drove to the fishing harbor and entered the regional logistics facilities, where another vehicle collision occurred before he fled again on foot. Officers from the Civil Guard’s Tax and Boundaries unit pursued and eventually detained him.
During the incident, Villena officers, homicide investigators, and the crime lab relocated to the murder scene. Forensic experts collected statements from neighbors and conducted a thorough examination to reconstruct events from that afternoon.
