The man remains in custody after being arrested last Monday. He is facing a jail term without bail on charges linked to the death of a 26-year-old man who collapsed after a powerful blow to the head outside a nighttime venue. The incident occurred near San Juan Beach at the Copity nightclub complex, with prosecutors describing the event as willful murder in the initial court ruling issued by Court No. 1 in Alicante. He was brought into custody by the National Police while on duty last Monday.
The legal characterization could shift as investigators gather more evidence, but at this stage the court has considered it an intentional killing rather than a negligent act. The judge noted the inherent risk of death from the described action and the danger of the suspect escaping, which supported the order of pretrial detention.

Now in custody, the suspect, who had planned to celebrate his upcoming 33rd birthday on Saturday night, told the court that he fired at the deceased teenager but claimed he did not think anyone could die. He attributed his actions to intoxication and expressed regret and remorse for what happened.
Regarding the events at Copity nightclub in the Golf area of San Juan Beach, within the Laseda Gastro Village complex, the person under investigation said that after seeing a girl who was involved in a dispute, he was with a friend and allegedly pushed another young man. According to his account, the young man then approached with the apparent intention to touch, and the push followed.
The nightclub’s staff arrived shortly after the confrontation and intervened. The detainee stated that, as seen in one of the police videos submitted to the court, he reproached the young man for his treatment of the girl and was punched in response.
The two left through separate doors but later encountered each other again on the central terrace of the mall. According to the inspector’s statement, the suspect saw the victim near the doormen and approached with a prior history of contact, before delivering a blow to the face after an earlier incident.
Call
Following the incident, the detainee returned to his home in La Alcoraya and later called to inquire about the victim’s condition, though he did not learn of the death until noon on Sunday. After the assault occurred around six in the morning, medical teams fought to revive the young man for about an hour, but the head trauma left him unable to recover.
The family of the deceased has pursued formal charges and maintains that the act was intentional murder.
