In Nizhny Novgorod, a man entered the home of a couple who were in a romantic relationship after loud noises from the neighborhood were heard. He brought a knife into the room and wounded the young man who lived there. Local reports circulated through a Telegram channel called Ni Mash.
The incident began when a tenth-grade student and his girlfriend, who attends a pedagogical institute, were spending the evening together in a recently constructed building on Korablestroiteley Street. That night, a 53-year-old neighbor reportedly forced his way into their apartment, after the front door had been left open for reasons not explained. The intruder, disturbed by what he perceived as disturbances from the neighbors, began making threats while holding a knife.
The young man chose to defend himself and his companion. He managed to wrest the weapon from the assailant after a challenging effort, which occurred on the fourth attempt. A struggle ensued as the high school student attempted to shield his girlfriend from the danger. During the confrontation, the student sustained a serious facial injury from a deep cut.
The attacker was subsequently hospitalized, and medical staff diagnosed him with multiple bruises as well as a fracture to the orbit beneath his eye. Neighbors described a history of frequent clashes between the man and other residents, including hostile messages that appeared in a community chat channel prior to the incident.
There have been other recent reports in Russia of violent intrusions into homes when doors are left unsecured. In one earlier case in St. Petersburg, a man entered an unlocked apartment and subjected the resident to a sexual assault. Authorities continue to investigate these scenarios as part of broader efforts to address safety in multiunit housing and to protect residents in urban areas.
