A Moscow resident organized a brawl near Smolensk and fired a pistol into the air in front of the police. This report comes from the press office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Smolensk region.
The incident took place on August 6 in the Pochinkovsky district. A 39-year-old man from Moscow had traveled to the village to visit relatives. After drinking alcohol, he got into a heated dispute with his wife. What started as a domestic quarrel quickly escalated when the man began to threaten violence toward his spouse. The tension reached the level of a confrontation with law enforcement when police were alerted to the unrest and responded to the scene.
According to officials, the man first threatened to interfere with the district police officer. He then fired several shots into the air using a traumatic pistol. The incident prompted rapid action by the authorities, and the violator was detained with the assistance of the National Guard and placed in custody for three days.
A criminal case was subsequently opened against him. He is currently under house arrest as the investigation continues. The case is being investigated to determine charges and ensure a thorough review of the events.
In a separate report, a former incident is noted where an individual in Petrozavodsk reportedly forced entry by breaking a window into the apartment of a sleeping resident. This prior event is mentioned in official summaries but is unrelated to the current Smolensk case.
