In Moscow on the night of November 26, air defense systems thwarted a large drone attack directed at the Naro-Fominsk region and the Odintsovo urban area. The mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, stated this in a message carried on his telegram channel.
He wrote that air defense forces shot down UAVs as the situation unfolded and added that he was en route to Moscow.
Sobyanin noted that the intercepts extended to the Bryansk, Tula, and Kaluga regions, where drones were detected and eliminated in time to prevent greater harm.
The city leader reported that there were no preliminary injuries or major damage arising from the incident. He also indicated that efforts are ongoing to analyze drone activity in more detail, and emergency responders continue to operate in the areas where drone wreckage has fallen.
Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense released a statement about another security incident. It said that on November 19 at 23:20 Moscow time, a terrorist attempt by the Ukrainian side to strike targets in Moscow and the Moscow region using aircraft-type UAVs was halted.
Experts who have commented on the episode have discussed how Ukrainian drones managed to reach the capital, noting the combination of surveillance, navigation, and countermeasure factors involved.
Analysts emphasize that the broader security situation remains dynamic, with authorities increasing vigilance and refining detection capabilities to identify drones before they close the distance to urban centers.
