The Moscow Rospotrebnadzor office reported that air quality remained within normal limits after the incident involving a truck carrying hydrofluoric acid. According to the ministry’s official announcement cited by RIA News, the event occurred on the northern outskirts of the city.
The department explained that an accident happened at the 25th kilometer of the Leningradskoe Highway, in the area where construction is taking place. The damage involved a container with hydrofluoric acid that was on the loading platform of a Volvo truck. Specialists were dispatched to the scene to assess the situation and identify any potential threats to public health.
Air samples were collected from the air near a cluster of small private homes, located about 50 meters from the site where the truck overturned. Laboratory analyses focused on detecting hydrofluoric acid in the atmosphere. The results showed no excess of hygiene standards, and officials indicated that the air quality in the city is being continuously monitored to ensure public safety.
On January 18, the authorities confirmed that a total of 17 tons of chemical contents were present on the roadway in relation to the incident. A separate accident involving a Mercedes vehicle occurred in Moscow, resulting in a head-on collision and the vehicle overturning in the same general area.
Authorities stressed that there is ongoing surveillance of the situation and that emergency services remain vigilant in the hours following the incident. Official reports continue to be updated to reflect any changes in environmental conditions or traffic safety measures at the scene.
