The head of Russia’s National Defense Control Center, Colonel General Mizintsev, stated that a Ukrainian small hydrographic vessel named Shlyakhovich was blown up by a drifting mine near the Danube mouth. This was reported by DEA News as part of the latest briefing from Moscow.
According to the Russian official, Kyiv’s actions and the high danger of mines impede ships from entering the open sea freely.
“On July 28, 2022, while measuring depths along the Danube fairway, the small geode vessel Shlyakhovich was struck by a drifting mine in Ukrainian waters”, Mizintsev described.
Earlier remarks attributed to Mizintsev claimed that Ukrainian armed forces and territorial defense units had deployed artillery and MLRS on the grounds of an agricultural enterprise in the Donetsk People’s Republic. He also alleged that defensive resources along the Dnieper were stored in a dormitory belonging to the regional university.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the decision to conduct a special operation in response to the request for assistance from the heads of the LPR and DPR, signaling a broader intent to protect the Donbass region amid escalating tensions.
These events form part of a running chronology tracked by media outlets observing the conflict dynamics in the region.
