The photo shows a bicycle leaning against a railing on a coastal road in Cabo Penas, the northern tip of Asturias. A scene of bike, cliffs and sea. In the background, to the right, a figure moves in a hazardous, restricted space. A woman strides toward an abyss.
The video, obtained by Prensa Ibérica news and the investigative channel CASO ABIERTO, was recorded by a cyclist on the morning of November 9, the day after a person vanished at the same location. Sandra Bermejo, a 32-year-old psychologist, has not been seen since arriving in the region with her car.

The cyclist saved the image on a mobile device and shared it on social media. Metadata confirms the photo was taken at five o’clock that morning. After zooming in and analyzing the frame, Sandra’s family and other relatives insist it could be her, though they stop short of confirming anything or seeking help at this stage.
“The photo reached Sandra’s family and they studied it carefully,” explains Joaquin Amills, head of SOS Desaparecidos and a spokesperson for the family who spoke on OPEN CASE. “Our team of experts also analyzed it, and we find the location credible: Cabo Peñas, that morning.”
Delivered to court
Regarding the woman seen walking in the footage, the family has not ruled out that it could be Sandra. They are asking anyone who can provide information, or even potential sightings, to contact the association. Whether it is Sandra or someone else, it remains important to learn more, Amills notes, since the possibility cannot be ruled out without further evidence.
The family’s lawyer, Juan Manuel Medina, stated that the vehicle involved has been linked to the Gijón 3rd Division, which is handling the disappearance case. An anthropometric study aims to either confirm or deny that the walking figure is Sandra, who may be near the edge of a cliff.
The judge instructed Orange to copy Sandra’s SIM card to access her WhatsApp and Tinder messages.

Judge Julio Juan Martínez of the 3rd Court of Investigation in Gijón, handling the case, ordered Orange to duplicate Sandra’s SIM card to access her WhatsApp and Tinder conversations as part of exploring new leads. In a December 27 order, accepted by OPEN CASE, the judge also demanded the telecom operator provide exact traffic and location data, including calls made and received by Sandra in the weeks before her disappearance from October 1 to November 6.
The article’s photo caption features Sandra Bermejo in various personal album shots.
The investigation has shown how a single image can complicate a missing person case, drawing in family, investigators and civil society groups to sift through clues that may illuminate what happened that morning near Cabo Peñas.
Star water and ayahuasca
Sandra left home on November 8. A sport enthusiast with a love for walking, she parked her car at Cabo Peñas, a favorite place for reflection and strolls. She did not appear in theater class nor engage in a video call that day. Her home remained orderly, the fridge full, and plans for the days ahead unchanged. Police initially hypothesized a voluntary disappearance, but investigators broadened their look into social and spiritual groups connected to ayahuasca in the area, including a group associated with a practice called “Water of the Stars” that Sandra might have encountered upon arriving in Gijón.
The circle of the woman involved does not believe she left voluntarily. “A voluntary disappearance would mean she left everything behind to start anew, and we do not think that is the case,” announced Amills a few days later.
The day Sandra’s 31st birthday was celebrated, a family member shared a photo caption in her memory.
Two cars near Sandra
With no clear answers, Sandra’s family, friends and SOS Desaparecidos press on, fighting against time to uncover the truth. The new request to the court to examine the photo adds to the family’s ongoing efforts. The CASO ABIERTO team notes they are pursuing the possibility that Sandra disappeared in the early hours while two cars were parked nearby.
Fishermen did not comment
According to Sandra’s family, fishermen reported seeing three vehicles at around 7:30 in the morning. “There is normally little traffic at that place at that time,” Amills says. They continue awaiting information about the three cars and any other data that could shed light on the case. The search for the white shirt found in the area remains ongoing, and the family urges authorities to review the biker’s photo for any new clues about Sandra: a woman wearing black may appear with a white T-shirt visible underneath upon closer inspection.
Anyone with information is asked to contact SOS Desaparecidos by phone any time, year-round, or by email for immediate outreach. Open tips and corroborating details are welcomed by investigators and the family, who continue their campaign to locate Sandra Bermejo and understand the events of that morning near Cabo Peñas [Citation: OPEN CASE].
