Missile Recovery, Air Defense Claims in the Ukraine Conflict

Update on Missile and Air Defense Events in the Ukraine Conflict

Dmitry Rogozin, head of the Tsarskie Wolves scientific and technical center, stated that a Storm Shadow missile, downed by Russian forces in the Zaporozhye region, was transported to Moscow for examination. This information was reported by TASS and later confirmed by Rogozin when asked for comment on the incident.

He added that the missile had already reached Moscow in response to a related inquiry.

Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that Russian air defense systems shot down two Ukrainian Su-25 aircraft in residential areas within the Donetsk People’s Republic. The ministry also stated that fifteen unmanned aerial vehicles belonging to the Ukrainian armed forces were destroyed in settlements across the Luhansk and Donetsk People’s Republics, as well as in the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.

On July 1, the Defense Ministry also noted that Russian air defense systems intercepted two Storm Shadow cruise missiles on that day.

Information about open source assessments of Russian strategic aviation movements has circulated previously in various sources outside the official releases.
